In vitro meat, insect flour or edible print – this is what already happens! What will food look like in the future? Feel free to visit a multimedia laboratory of the future: infuture food lab.

“Future of Food” is a standard example of a successful multi-aspect cooperation of two different scientific and research centres with the business. The project was initiated by Natalia Hatalska, founder of the infuture institute who organised a speculative design project in cooperation with the Department of Architecture and Design of the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk.

Based on food, cultural, social and environmental trends developed by the infuture institute, students of the Academy of Fine Arts accepted a challenge of designing food of the future. The assumption of the competition was for each project to be substantially set in reality while the visionary concept to have scientific bases. The final is composed of a display of competition works as well as a report entitled “Future of Food”.

The project was managed by the Experimental Design Workshop and it was consulted with microbiologist, Adam Ossowicki from the Netherlands Institute of Ecology (NIOO-KNAW).

Projects developed at the Academy of Fine Arts in Gdańsk are a part of substantial contribution to the “Future of Food” report prepared by infuture hatalska foresight institute, where Tesco is the strategic partner.
