The impact of civilization on the environment and on the quality of life is unquestionably high. We take a closer look at design in the communities which are based on different models and values.
An example of such a place is the Boa Vista do Acará, located near Belém, the capital of the state of Para in the Amazon region; a place that is only accessible by boat. The locals live from selling the açai fruit. With this community, living so close to nature, we started to co-operate. Foundation The Spirit of Poland wanted to check what we can learn from the community and, at the same time, see to what extent the design experience can be beneficial in solving local issues.
The exhibition presents the results of the works hop conducted there - a joint effort of the designers and the local community. It will present, in pictures and through the gathered products and materials - the life of the community, the materials and techniques used, organization of work and workplace, the documentation of the workshop and its results.
